5 things you should know about SNBRN
Get familiar with another member of the Juice Jam 2015 line-up — DJ SNBRN. Fans of house music and artists such as Galantis and Steve Aoki should be sure not to miss this up-and-coming music producer.
1. His real name is Kevin Chapman
He chose the name SNBRN because he tends to get sunburnt frequently. He told Into the Crowd magazine, “Well, I do tend to get sunburnt a lot. There’s a little help from an ex-girlfriend and then also from LED who helped with the name and removing the vowels. I was starting two aliases at the same time and this was just a side project thing that I picked up and it just took a mind of its own and developed into this whole SoCal brand.”
2. His most popular song is “Raindrops”
SNBRN is best known for his song, “Raindrops” feat. Kerli, which has over 614,000 views on Youtube. In an interview with The Club Planet he said about working with Kerli, “It was such an unexpected experience because I really had no idea how it was going to be, but it just turned out to be this goofy session in Venice Beach, California. We were just hanging on the beach talking about stuff and it turned into a great, fun experience.”
3. Fans refer to his music as sunset house
SNBRN said that his manager accidentally coined the term when they were trying to think of a way to describe his take on EDM sound.
4. He’s a Justin Bieber fan
In an interview with Into the Crowd magazine, he said, “In Miami, I fell in love with that song by Jack Ü, ‘Where Are Ü Now’, with Justin Bieber. That’s my secret [laughs]. I like Justin Bieber.”
5. He partied with Zac Efron
As a part of the “We Are Your Friends” movie tour SNBRN performed a free show at Grand Central in Miami, Florida on August 15 along with Them Jeans and Vito & Druzzi. At the show, SNBRN posted a photo of him and Efron to his Instagram with the caption “This Guy!”. They’re obviously bros.
